Colby's Charles A. Dana Professor of Sociology Neil Gross was interviewed for a story in The Economist about the lack of protests related to an increase in police shootings.

Associate Professor of Sociology Damon Mayrl has won two awards for his article "The Funk of White Souls: Toward a Du Boisian Theory of the White Church," published in the journal Sociology of Religion in 2023. The honors include the Distinguished Article Award from the Association for the Sociology of Religion and the Distinguished Article Award from the American Sociological Association's Section on the Sociology of Religion.

The 2024 Lovejoy Award recipient Jacqueline Charles received notable media coverage leading up to next week’s official ceremony at the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts. Highlights include feature articles in the Miami Herald and Diverse: Issues In Higher Education.

Ghada Gherwash, assistant professor of writing and director of the Farnham Writers' Center, has been honored with the 2024-25 Martinson Innovation Award from the Small Liberal Arts College-Writing Program Administrators. Chosen from an exceptionally competitive pool, Gherwash's initiative, “On Linguistic Justice in the Writing Center: A Genesis Story,” shows how "meaningful and sustainable linguistic justice efforts can grow from grassroots efforts to cross-campus conversations—fostering, in documented ways, a more inclusive learning environment," according to the SLAC-WPA press release.

One of the country's leading art critics wrote a wonderful review of three current exhibitions at the Colby Museum. In the piece, he noted how Eastman Johnson and Maine is "a curatorial master class," that Surface Tension: Etchings from the Collection is "an extraordinarily good look at the intricacies of etching," and that "the art museum and, now, the center of Waterville" have become a significant cultural hub.

Professor of Art Véronique Plesch gave a talk for the South Solon Historical Society at its South Solon Meeting House on Aug. 13, 2024.  She spoke to a group of more than 50 people on the building, its history, and the mid-century frescoes it houses. Plesch had frequent occasions to mention the work of the students in the Digital Lab AR397A Tradition and Innovation in Mid-Century Frescoes: The South Solon Meeting House that she taught in the fall semester 2022 and the website the students created.

An article in Vox about authenticity—i.e. knowing who you truly are and behaving in a way that aligns with that vision—included commentary from Assistant Professor of Psychology Elizabeth Seto and also referenced one of her studies.

The Portland Press Herald announced the renewal of the Maine IDeA Network, a collaboration between various research and educational institutions, including Colby. The story led with Jennifer Honeycutt '10, who credited her hands-on experiences at Colby and work with Professor of Psychology, Melissa Glenn, for shaping her neuroscience career.

Online luxury magazine Lux Exposé included Waterville in a list of fall getaways, noting that the city is a "refreshing alternative to the traditional coastal Maine experience."
