The Central Maine covered the recent appointment of Randi Arsenault as the assistant vice president of admissions and financial aid and dean of admissions at Colby. Arsenault has been working "to develop innovative, access-focused enrollment strategies and implementing new project management and analytics systems to better track and assess the efficacy of various admissions and financial aid initiatives," the article reported.

Maine Home+Design ran an article spotlighting the Colby College Museum of Art's recently opened exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: History in the Making, 1948–1960. The piece highlights that the show, which exhibits 90 paintings from Lichtenstein’s early years, "will showcase many of these early works for the very first time."

Assistant Professor of Creative Writing Arisa White coedited a newly released anthology, Home is Where You Queer Your Heart. Worked on during the Covid-19 pandemic, the book, "organized around the four cardinal directions, encompasses poetry, prose, hybrid and concrete works, and highlights a diverse group of authors along the queer and trans spectrum." 

The publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and website Journal-isms shared that Colby is honoring national columnist Leonard Pitts as its 2021 Lovejoy recipient. Diverse provides premiere insight and news on issues of diversity in higher education and Journal-isms is a leading news column on diversity issues in the news media.

In a Miami Herald article covering the announcement of Leonard Pitts as this year’s Lovejoy Award recipient, Pitts described Elijah Lovejoy as a “19th century bad-ass.” The story also quotes President Greene who said that “the need for courageous journalism is as strong as ever,” and that Pitts’s profound work not only “helps us consider the complexities of the issues of our time but become better people.”

Loren McClenachan, the Elizabeth and Lee Ainslie Associate Professor of Environmental Studies, delivered the keynote address for the virtual symposium "Oceans Past, Present & Future: Historical Ecology & Circumpolar Fisheries Management." Her address, titled "Historical Ecology & Shifting Baselines in Fisheries," was part of the symposium hosted by the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University.

The naming of Deborah Shufrin as Colby's new chief investment officer was highlighted on the website Chief Investment Officer, an online hub for news and opinions focusing on investment issues. "She has a passion for investing and discovering inefficiencies in markets that can lead to greater returns,” commented President David A. Greene.

Assistant Professor of English Arisa White's new memoir was spotlighted in a Portland Press Herald article which highlighted three recently published books by Maine authors. White's memoir, titled Who's Your Daddy, is comprised of a collection of poems.

The Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence was included in an article published by RTInsights on the role of the artificial intelligence in the liberal arts. The piece mentions the $30-million gift to create the institute and how "Colby College is the first liberal arts college to take on such an initiative."

The appointment of Deborah Shufrin as Colby’s chief investment officer received national coverage in the financial press, including Pensions & Investments and Financial Investment News. Shufrin will lead the College’s investment office and oversee Colby’s $1-billion endowment.
