An article in the Morning Sentinel reported on Colby's successful start to the 2021 spring semester, which had low COVID-19 numbers. “Colby has a comprehensive plan in place and we take a deep look at the health of our community every day, including thoroughly investigating any positive cases, and this plays a key role in allowing us to make adjustments to protect our community," a spokesperson said.
Colby’s new Davis Institute for AI was featured on NPR’s national show and podcast Marketplace Tech. During the segment, President Greene said how "in 10 years, my sense is if you're not in AI in a big way, for most colleges it’s going to be very hard to be relevant." He also commented that for students, AI won’t be a plus factor. “It’s going to be an absolute expectation,” and that “we need to have a whole cohort of students from different backgrounds and experiences who are really leading AI and not being led by it.”
In an EdSurge article about Colby's new Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Margaret McFadden, Colby's provost and dean of faculty, said that AI will aid in "preparing students well for their futures," providing "lives and careers of meaning and purpose."

An article in the Morning Sentinel highlights the recent $3.35-million gift for the $80-million Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts, "designed for innovative teaching, performing, working and creating, the center will foster creativity and collaboration among students and faculty across the discipline and will contribute to a growing robust arts ecosystem in central Maine."
A story in Forbes magazine makes it clear that Colby's dedication to athletics, and its opening of the new Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center, is bold and defies the approach other schools are taking in the midst of the pandemic. "The athletic facility, now the largest in Division III and in the entire Northeast, is a wise investment," reporter Kurt Bandenhausen wrote. "Sports are a key part of Colby’s success, with one-third of Colby’s students recruited as varsity athletes, while nearly everyone else participates in club or intramural sports, as well as other recreational activities," the story continues.
