Josephine Liang '14, a social justice entrepreneur focusing on food inequities in London, was selected for Forbes 30 under 30 Europe 2021 list and was a featured honoree in the Social Impact category. Liang is cofounder of Dare to Care Packages, which during the pandemic distributed "weekly care packages for those that were not on the national support list" Forbes reported.

A Forbes magazine article titled “How Passengers with Disabilities Can Drive the Autonomous Vehicle Revolution” covers an app co-created by Colby’s Assistant Professor of Computer Science Stacy Doore. The Autonomous Vehicle Assistant, “which was awarded a $300,000 research development prize earlier this year by the U.S. Department of Transport[ation], is an app-based system intended to help disabled passengers negotiate all stages of an autonomous vehicle journey based on ridesharing.”
Morning Sentinel
“What I really love is to see how Colby College is realizing the importance of engaging with downtown Waterville, and vice versa,” said Susan T. Rodriguez, lead architect for the Paul J. Schupf Art Center told the Morning Sentinel. The article highlights the new building, which will be a hub for the arts in downtown Waterville.
Boston Globe
In a Boston Globe article about the challenges surrounding the admissions process due to the pandemic, President Greene commented on Colby's decision to increase its waitlist for the Class of ’25. He noted that while Colby’s applications increased, “everybody is trying to figure out how things will shake out” given that students can’t visit campus and that more institutions have gone test-optional.
Dartmouth Medicine
Rodwell Mabaera '02, an assistant professor of medicine at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, was profiled in Dartmouth Medicine. Mabaera, M.D.-Ph.D., who studied math and chemistry at Colby, is now working to "understand how the immune system interacts with cancer cells in tumors," the magazine reports. He's also involved with issues relating to diversity and inclusion at Dartmouth. “When we are able to sit at the table and talk about what we have in common, as Americans and as humans, while respecting our differences,” says Mabaera, “that’s, I think, when we can move mountains.” 
Inside Higher Ed
Inside Higher Ed led with Colby in its article about schools that had great admissions success this year. In the story, Matt Proto, vice president for enrollment and communications, referenced how the College “had a really strong strategy” and a “robust commitment to financial aid,” including no contribution for families with incomes of up to $65,000.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Leeann Sullivan was quoted in an article published by The Atlantic looking at the impact of the global pandemic on scientific research abroad. According to Sullivan, concern over Covid-19, coupled with renewed focus on social and racial justice, has opened a window of opportunity for more sustainable scientific research that empowers, rather than exploits, local communities.

Maine Public and the Morning Sentinel published articles highlighting the 2021 Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award, which was awarded to Pulitzer Prize-winning Miami Herald columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. The Lovejoy Award continues to receive national and local coverage.

Regan Bragg ’21, an O’Hanian-Szostak Fellow for Civic Leadership, was featured in the Morning Sentinel about creating the Waterville Junior High School Coding Club. In the story, Stacy Doore, assistant professor of computer science, said that Regan is showing “different ways that our students can contribute in meaningful ways to the local community.”

Colby was included in a recent article by Fast Company about selective schools and the Class of 2025. The piece highlighted how making standardized testing optional continued to play a role in attracting talented students and increasing application numbers.
