The Art Newspaper
The Art Newspaper published an article about Colby’s ongoing and planned activities on Allen and Benner Islands, an island retreat for artist Andrew Wyeth and his wife, Betsy. The article included commentary from President David Greene, who said that the College would use the islands for educational activities “in a way that [would be] really thoughtful and respectful of the work that had already been done there.”
Boston Globe
The Boston Globe published an extensive article introducing the history of Allen and Benner Islands, a living and artistic work place for the Andrew Wyeth family, recently acquired by Colby. The story noted that, “With strengths in both environmental science and art, Colby was a perfect fit [for stewardship of the islands].”

Central Maine Newspapers and the Sun Journal publish articles about Colby’s cooperation with city officials to revitalize another section of downtown Waterville, noting that “Colby has spent millions helping to revitalize downtown,” and that “the city and Colby College plan to begin a new phase of envisioning how the area around downtown Waterville might look in the future.“
Lodging

The announcement by Charlestowne Hotels, a leading hospitality management company, that it’s expanding with Colby’s Lockwood Hotel was reported by Lodgingmagazine, commenting that, “As part of Colby College’s commitment to revitalize the downtown, the art-forward Lockwood Hotel provides visitors with a gorgeous and well-appointed home base for greater discovery of the community.” Travel and Tour World, Hotel Online, and Hospitality Netalso include this announcement.

Forbes
Forbes included Colby’s Lockwood Hotel on its “Hotels to Add to Your 2022 Travel List,” commenting that, “With views of Main Street, each of the hotel’s 53 rooms and suites sets the stage for an unforgettable, unique New England escape. Lockwood Hotel is also home to Front & Main, Waterville’s premier downtown restaurant quickly transforming the local food scene.”
Morning Sentinel
Central Maine newspapers wrote about Colby and Waterville beginning “a new phase of envisioning how the area around downtown might look in the future.” The piece noted that Colby will fund phase two of the revitalization planning process and that the whole community will provide input. According to Brian Clark, Colby’s vice president of planning, the goal is to incorporate “the many new opportunities that have been created for Waterville.”
MSN
An article in the Maine Monitor about a decline in Maine’s religious services was picked-up by a variety of media outlets including  MSN, the Bangor Daily News, the Sun Journal, and Central Maine Newspapers. The story included commentary from Damon Mayrl, associate professor of sociology, who said that “there is no one reason for the decline locally and nationally,” and that “as religious institutions close, the communities they serve could start to be negatively impacted.”
The Salem News
The Salem News interviewed Brady O’Brien ’24, a member of Colby’s baseball team, about his experience this summer playing in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. 
Boston Globe
The Boston Globe published a review of the Colby Museum of Art’s Andrew Wyeth: Life and Death exhibition, noting that it is “as powerful as it is unexpected in the Wyeth oeuvre — loose, chaotic, abrupt.”
Bangor Daily News
The Bangor Daily News covered news about how the VEMI lab, which involves various Maine collaborators including Stacy Doore, assistant professor of computer science, and Matthew Maring ’22, earned third place in a national competition and an invitation to the White House for developing an inclusive smartphone software platform.
