Colby has offered admission to 1,307 students for the Class of 2024. The admitted students were selected from a pool of 13,922 applications, which translates to a 9-percent admit rate. They hail from 46 states and more than 60 countries, a testament to the global appeal of a Colby education.

“We’re thrilled to welcome this remarkable group of students to Colby’s Class of 2024. Their talents, intellect, perspectives, and interests will enrich our community and classrooms in countless ways,” said Randi Arsenault ’09, assistant vice president of admissions and financial aid.

Representing 753 high schools, this year’s admitted class comes exceptionally well-prepared academically: The middle 50-percent range of ACT scores is 32-35, and the middle 50-percent range of SAT scores is 1420-1540. Ninety percent of the students are expected to graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school class.

Among United States students, nearly 33 percent identify as a person of color. There are 11 percent international students in the cohort, and 12 percent are Pell grant eligible.

This is the first year that students and families will benefit from Colby’s new financial aid policy ensuring families with a total household income of $65,000 or less and typical assets can send their students to Colby and expect no parent/guardian contribution. This policy, as well as the Fair Shot Fund, are major components of the College’s nationally recognized efforts to attract the most talented students from all backgrounds.

“There is no more important time for colleges and universities to remain committed to enrolling the most talented students from all backgrounds,” Vice President for Enrollment and Communications Matt Proto said. “The world needs analytical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and innovative scholars working to address our most pressing challenges. The students admitted to Colby’s Class of 2024 reflect this broad diversity of thought and perspective.”

Colby expects approximately 550 students to enroll and begin classes in September. This year, in lieu of an on-campus admitted student program, the College will offer a robust virtual experience online.

“While we’re disappointed they won’t have the opportunity to visit campus this spring,” Arsenault said, “we’re excited to offer them the opportunity to experience what Colby has to offer through an amazing series of virtual events and connections with faculty, staff, alumni, and current students.”
