Colby’s excellence attracted the attention of major media

Colby continued to receive significant press attention in 2025, including in national and regional publications and outlets. From pieces on NPR and PBS to articles in Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated, the College was featured in a variety of media throughout the year. Here are a few highlights.
Marketplace Tech on NPR featured Michael Donihue, Colby’s interim director of the Davis Institute for Artificial Intelligence, in a segment about the College’s interdisciplinary approach to AI.
A TikTok initiative by Colby students promoting positive masculinity, based on research by Charles A. Dana Professor of Education Adam Howard, was featured in a story in Rolling Stone.
NPR’s All Things Considered broke a story about how a group of scientists led by Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy Dale Kocevski made important discoveries using the James Webb Space Telescope.
Sports Illustrated published a feature story on senior football captain Julian Young ’25 and his invitation to the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp by GM and fellow Mule Eric DeCosta ’93.
Colby Class Elevates Art Landmark
A special feature by the Associated Press on the South Solon Meeting House credited renewed interest in the landmark to a course designed by the James M. Gillespie Professor of Art Véronique Plesch.
Waterville Hotel Gets Major Recognition
The Lockwood Hotel was named one of Travel + Leisure’s Top 10 Best New England Hotels of 2025 as part of the publication’s World’s Best 2025 Awards.
